‘Seeing the Invisible’ is an augmented reality exhibition opening simultaneously in 12 outdoor garden settings located in different biomes across the globe: Canada, England, Israel, Scotland, South Africa and the United States, including Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in Melbourne, from September 2021 to August 2022.
Many of the commissioned works address related themes around nature, environment, and sustainability, and explore the interplay of the physical world with the digital one in a new ‘phygital’ model.
Artists include Ai Weiwei, Refik Anadol, El Anatsui, Ori Gersht, Isaac Julien CBE, Mohammed Kazem, Sigalit Landau, Daito Manabe, Sarah Meyohas, Mel O’Callaghan, Pamela Rosenkranz,
Timur Si-Qin and Jakob Kudsk Steensen. Accompanying the exhibition is educational programming on-site and online and a ‘Seeing the Invisible’ app, available for smartphones.
