Fremantle Arts Centre is showcasing a selection of artists’ books from the City of Fremantle Art Collection from 22 September to 11 November 2017. The award-winning books collected over 20 years present an opportunity to get up-close and personal with these unique objects. ‘Speaking Volumes’ includes pieces by Dianne Longley (SA), Jan Davis (VIC), Peter Charuk (NSW), Marieke Dench (VIC), Antonietta Covino-Beehre (VIC), Joel Gailer (VIC) and Damiano Bertoli (VIC). Combining a range of papers, mediums, printmaking techniques and processes these remarkable books challenge the act of reading and invite us to consider our understanding of what constitutes art. An artist talk will take place on Saturday 23 September, 2-4pm at the gallery.
