The SUPERGRAPH is Australia’s newest Contemporary Graphic Art Fair. Spanning across three days, the fair opened romantically on Valentine’s Day and finished on the 16th February.
The Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton was the chosen home for the art fair and offered visitors the opportunity to view the talented work of up and coming artists as well as leading graphic artists. Artists were given the opportunity to mingle and connect with interested observers as well as offer their work for sale. A range of pieces suited people’s budgets with some starting from $30. Customers were then offered to frame their selected pieces on site with a range of stylish frames presented by IKEA. This was a wonderful opportunity for people to splash some colour onto their walls at home while learning about the intentions behind the artwork straight from the artist.
The fair was a lively event with plenty of activities to keep the hundreds of visitors entertained. Many found it fun and adventurous to pick up a pen and allow their creative side to show through while people were also encouraged to participate in playful drawing competitions.
The space was divided into three exhibition sections. The Salon, which comprised of limited addition, unframed work exclusive to SUPERGRAPH, Supergraph Picks, which consisted of a section of curated framed artworks and Supergraph Booths where artists and designers set up their own pop up studio areas. Another popular feature were the Masterclasses and workshops which were held by The Jacky Winter Group’s selected artists. Some of these influential individuals included, Tin&Ed, Kelly Thompson, Jeremy and Mimi Lueng. Keen admirers and the curious found this highly enjoyable.
A selection of tasty beverages and snacks were available for ticket holders who were happy to mingle and browse amongst this newly created buzzing art hub. Music played by Indian Summer filled the air creating a feel good vibe for all to enjoy and relax to.
The SUPERGRAPH Contemporary Art Fair is something not to miss in 2015. Everyone is invited to come along and meet with the artists and participate in the range of activities on offer that will leave you feeling creative, artistic and inspired.
