Sydney Contemporary

Carriageworks hosts the second ‘Sydney Contemporary’, Australasia’s international art fair. On from 10 to 13 September, it offers Australia’s largest and most diverse gathering of Australian and International galleries. This year’s lineup sees over 90 galleries from 14 counties and over 300 artists. ‘Sydney Contemporary’ is split into five exhibition sectors of: Current Contemporary – which showcases solo and group exhibitions from leading galleries across the globe, Future Contemporary – a round-up of young galleries that have been operating for less than five years, Paper Contemporary – celebrating the best national and international contemporary printmaking and works on paper, Video Contemporary – an exhibition dedicated to digital and moving image, and Installation Contemporary – made up of large-scale sculpture and innovative installations, positioned throughout the Carriageworks precinct.

The five-day program aims to appeal to the well-versed, the novice, those with a discerning eye, the enthusiast and the curious. It showcases art from well-known artists, while also introducing viewers to the next generation of emerging talent. As well as the galleries, the fair also includes interesting talks and tours from industry leaders, contemporary video, installation and performance art, educational workshops, kids activities and an extensive VIP program. There will also be pop-up restaurants by Longrain and the Subcontinental.
