Textile Tales Woven Journeys is a collaborative community cultural project, culminating in a photo-text exhibition, talks and workshop. Women’s personal stories are shared with the wider community through photos and written stories of treasured textile articles in domestic collections from women of diverse cultural backgrounds living in the Sydney’s Inner West.

Nelia Justo, project coordinator and curator has collaborated with a team of women to realise the project.. The project has involved interviewing the women about themselves and on a selected item (or more) from their own collection and photographing their treasured textile article/s. From the interviews, 2 of the women collaborating in the project, Bronwen Whyatt and Melinda Kenning, have written the stories.

The exhibition opens Wednesday June 26,  6-8pm. Free Gallery talks and textile workshop are on Saturday 29th June.
