The Paddington Art Market @ The Barracks is an initiative of Woollahra Municipal Council, in collaboration with City of Sydney Council, as part of the program for the revitalisation of Oxford Street.
The market involves the exhibition of high quality works of art by both emerging and established artists. Its objective is to create a vibrant space for people to view and buy art, and to relax amongst the beautiful Barracks foregrounds in a lounging area with access to food truck fare. It is also anticipated that visitors to the market will flow onto the Oxford Street shopping strip to partake in further shopping and food and beverage offerings.
The markets will be held every Sunday from 10am to 3pm 14 September up to and including Sunday 12 October. Thereafter the market will be held weekly or monthly, depending on artist exhibitor interest. Entry to the exhibition will be free of charge and proceeds from the art works offered for sale will go directly to the individual exhibitors/artists.
Hoping to display some art of your own? Each stall comprises of, depending on the artists requirements, a metal hanging system (in the form of a temporary fence) covered in white to resemble a display wall. The space allocated per stall is 2 metres. Artists wishing to exhibit in another manner (for example, with a tressel table, easel, marquee etc.) must bring that equipment and must comply with the directions of the Market Manager as to quality and look of display.
The casual rate for a stall is $100 per day payable one week in advance. The regular rate per stall (4 market days) is $350 payable one week in advance of first day.
The Paddington Art Market @ The Barracks is a not for profit event curated by an Assembly of Experts, managed by volunteers and administered by Woollahra Community Markets Inc. Any surplus after expenses will be passed to Holdsworth Community.
