A complement to the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia survey on until 19 October, these two new bodies of work, Reverb and Still, examine the persistence of imagery, language, and representation around the ways cultural attitudes continue to echo across generations.
The text-based works of Reverb explore how racism can reside within humour, nostalgia, and seemingly innocuous everyday language – attitudes, images, words: they change form while retaining power. While the collaged and hand-stitched works on paper in Still physically bind disparate histories.
