Esther Erlich’s new portrait series, ‘An Intimate Distance’ comprises paintings and drawings depicting half-figures – indeterminate hyper-gendered superheroes that provocatively fade in and out of abstraction, playfully investigating king princess iconography, fashion nova loyalty and escapism through fantasy.
