MCA appoints new board member | Susan Norrie

MCA Chairman Simon Mordant AM announces the appointment of Susan Norrie to the Board of the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA). Ms Norrie is taking up the position vacated by Rosemary Laing.

Simon Mordant said, ‘We are delighted to be welcoming new Board member Susan Norrie. Susan brings extensive knowledge and experience as a practising artist, both in Australia and overseas, and an acute understanding of the role of artists and how museums operate. We thank Rosemary for the excellent contribution she made to the Museum.’

MCA Director Elizabeth Ann Macgregor OBE said, ‘I would like to join our Chairman in extending a very warm welcome to Susan Norrie and in thanking Rosemary Laing for her wonderful work during her time with the Board. Susan is one of our most highly respected senior artists whose work has been widely exhibited                                                                                both locally and internationally.’

Susan Norrie represented Australia at the 52nd Venice Biennale in 2007 and in the last 20 years she has developed a practice that sees and uses art as a tool for social commentary. The Asia Pacific has been her focus, incorporating the environmental and humanitarian disasters that have impacted on the region. Norrie’s videos are predominantly metaphoric, combining art, documentary and film.
