The 18th Biennale of Sydney: all our relations has recently announced an exciting program of educational and public events to take place over the 12-week exhibition.
The range of activities, across all venues, includes something for everyone, from family focused events, specially designed educational areas, artist talks and guided tours, and for after dark, a Biennale Bar.
For the family, Biennale Family Sundays and Baby Biennale explore the art and ideas in a more hands-on approach, through art-making activites, story-telling, performances and family-friendly tours.
The Art Lounges and Learning Zones create a space for visitors to relax and contemplate the art, with comfy seating and flat screen TVs providing access to information about the artists, artworks and events. Extensive online resources will also be available through interactive touch screens on site.
A range of Artist Talks and Guided Tours are an important part of the program, and for added excitement the weekly Mystery Tours of Cockatoo Island are hosted by celebrity tour guides.
For viewers up for a late night, the Biennale Bar will be open at Pier 2/3 every Friday night throughout August.
To refer to after the exhibition, pick up a Student Newspaper or Kid’s Trail Booklet, or jump online to The Biennale Educators space or The Biennale Students Collaborize.
Special events in both the opening and closing weeks include The Biennale Keynote Address, the Opening Week Symposium and the Nick Waterlow OAM Memorial Lecture, which will explore and discuss different aspects of the curatorial concept, all our relations, and celebrate the opening of the exhibition.
The public program will conclude with a Closing Week Symposium at Carriageworks, where academics, writers, performers and Biennale artists will reflect further on the thematic ideas of the exhibition and future directions for contemporary art and culture.
