This month ‘The Alice Prize’ is celebrating its 40th incarnation with an increased award of $40,000.
This acquisitive national art award is open to Australian entries in any medium or theme. The Prize contributes to one of the largest regional collections of Australian art, with works by leading artists including Janet Laurence, Naomi Hobson, Clifford Possum, Bea Maddock and John Wolseley.
This year’s selection panel was Kelli Cole, Cassandra Lehman and Luke Scholes, with judge Brian Ritchie, MONA FOMA Curator and Violent Femmes bass player, announcing the winner on 27 April. A finalists exhibition will run from 28 April to 17 June at Araluen Arts Centre, Alice Springs, and the People’s Choice Award will be announced on 18 June.
