This exhibition pays tribute to Australian abstract artist Allan Mitelman, spanning forty years of his practice and mediums including acrylic and oil paint, charcoal, ink, pastel, pencil, watercolour, and print techniques such as etching – used individually and together.
His daughter’s 2023 gift to the gallery of forty of Mitelman’s works invites contemplation on the relationship between the artist, paper, and layers of applied medium that are vital in the production of these works – all untitled, encouraging the viewer to respond to them free from constrain and conventions.
