Initiated by S.H. Ervin Gallery in 1992 in response to the large number of works entered into the Archibald Prize that were not selected for display in the official exhibition, this year’s Archibald and Wynne Prizes ‘alternative’ features over fifty portrait and landscape paintings.
Comprising works recognised for their diversity, experimentation, humour, and quality, the exhibition celebrates insights offered into different approaches to portraiture and responses to the landscape. Jacqueline Hennessy won this year’s Holding Redlich People’s Choice Award.
