Each engaging in a personal form of alchemy, Australian Capital Territory painter Nicola Dickson – known for painting and drawing – and ceramicist Malcolm Cooke – known for porcelain and stoneware – transform diverse materials through complex processes into images and objects that express their reflections on the natural world.
While working in different mediums, both artists have a shared interest in pattern and the recurring presence of animal and plant forms; an interest they use to evoke a sense of belonging and place.
