.M Contemporary: Intimately Connected – Wearable Art exhibition

.M Contemporary, one of Sydney’s newest commercial art galleries based in the Woollahra gallery precinct, presents ‘Intimately Connected’, an exhibition of wearable art exploring the connection between art, design and contemporary jewellery-making.

The exhibition features unique pieces from artists across the globe that highlight the craftsmanship skill and conceptual development involved in the creation of jewellery art. These wearable art pieces will be set to the backdrop of photographic works by Australian artists Jacqueline Ball, Lynne Roberts Goodwin and Korean artist Lee Sang Hyun, transforming the gallery space into an interactive world of textural, sculptural and physical experimentation.

‘Intimately Connected’ features new and existing wearable art works by contemporary artists based in Australia and around the world, including:

Benja Harney (Australia); Inari McArdle (Australia); Melinda Young (Australia); Natalie Rosin (Australia); Zoe Brand (Australia); Bliss Lau (New York); Joyce Makitalo (Philipines); Claire McArdle (Australia); Zoe Robertson (Birmingham); Liaung-Chung Yes (New York); Natalie Dissel (Bali); Daniella Saraya (Israel); Vacide Erda Zimic (Peru); Reka Gottilieb (Budapest); Olga and Rok (Slovania), and Vincent Pontillio-Verrastro (Indiana).

Each of the artists’ designs experiment with a diversity of unconventional materials, calling into question how an object connects with the human body. The wearable art objects explore contemporary ideas and themes through the theatrical use of colour, unexpected scale, texture, decorative details and striking sculptural elements.
