Sam Cranstoun, Dale Harding, Alice Lang and Tyza Stewart are tagged with the moniker ‘post-emerging’ for this exhibition. Though the definition of that term is probably up for debate, these artists each have a decisive personal or political message delivered via diverse media including painting, drawing, sculpture and video. Stewart is known for her portraits which contemplate gender identity, Lang is interested in how objects can be sites which ‘instigate mindful social interaction’, whereas Harding and Cranstoun both have an acute sense of the positive and negative implications of politics and history.
