An innovative trio of artists – Amber Boardman, Tarryn Gill and Kaylene Whiskey present ‘Bodywork’ an exhibition about self-expression, its materiality and female empowerment. Ideas of social ritual and self-care come alive with visceral corporeality via Boardman’s fleshy palette. Gill’s affinity for the body, through calisthenics, dance and theatre costuming, bolsters her sensitivity for form in large works inspired by a union of the body and the colossal Trembesi trees. Whiskey celebrates strong kungkas (women) in her vibrant paintings that depict icons of pop culture with unshakeable confidence.
