Creating a meeting point between distinct Indigenous cultural practices and contemporary approaches to adornment, jewellery, and object-making, this exhibition brings together eleven Māori and Aboriginal wāhine (women) artists. Bagurrk murrup, drawing on Woi-wurrung and related Kulin Nations language, means women and spirit or lifeforce and comes alongside kotahitanga – a Māori concept of unity and collective strength.
Artists: Tiahuia Arapeta, Maree Clarke, Carly Tarkari Dodd, Turumeke Harrington, Molly Mahoney, Gina Matchitt, Juanita McLauchlan, Neke Moa, Lisa Waup, Areta Wilkinson, and Keri-Mei Zagrobelna.
