JUNCTURE Art Prize is a biennial $20,000 prize supporting the creation and exhibition of new work – Gian Manik and Sarah CrowEST being the 2026 prize recipients.

Known for undermining the colonial properties of historical painting, ambiguating tradition through the representation of multivalent or tangential subjects, Melbourne-based Manik’s ongoing investigation of queer and Eastern identity, art history, and self-portraiture is on show in a project investigating the ontology of Orientalist collections and their influence on exoticism and cultural reclamation – in conversation with the gallery’s Victorian architecture.
