Showing work by Jiawei Shen, Jingbo Sun, and Shengtian Zheng, this group exhibition – a partnership between the gallery and the Institute for Australian and Asian Arts and Culture at Western Sydney University – explores the intricate and inseparable entanglement between Modernism in art and the Marxist world revolution; showing that this entanglement remains one of the most compelling and complex narratives in twentieth-century art history.
Building upon this rich tapestry of historical art and ideology, the exhibition is accompanied by an academic symposium.
