A Country Practice
Janina Green
Edited by Helen Frajman M.33
Janina Green’s intimate photographic memoir identifies with a bygone era. Impressions of rural and industrial landscapes are intertwined with personal snap shots and reworked images of family life during the 1950s. Green and her parents arrived in Australia in 1949 as ‘displaced persons’ from the turmoil of Eastern Europe. As the daughter of working class migrants her dreams and aspirations coalesced with feelings of cultural isolation and alienation while she strived for a new chapter in life. The limited edition book is a poetic meditation that slowly unlocks aspects of this journey.
