Angelica Mesiti: ASSEMBLY

Angelica Mesiti’s three-channel video installation ASSEMBLY is on view for the first time since debuting at the 2019 Venice Biennale. The work explores the fragility of democracy and considers how communities are formed through shared movement and communication. By establishing an evolving set of intergenerational and cross-cultural translations, from the verbal to the written word and stenographic codes, to music and performance, Mesiti creates a hospitable place for the “other” to gather, disassemble and reunite, and demonstrate the strength and creativity of a plural society.
