BLAZE: people made known

BLAZE: people made known features portraits drawn from the Cruthers Collection of Women’s Art and highlights the agency of its artists and their sitters.

The exhibition shines a light on Maduwonnga and Wongatha leader and artist Susan Cooper Wyatt, whose practice celebrates the significant impact of Aboriginal leaders. Wyatt’s paintings are public statements of agency and visibility. Among the featured portraits is a full-length depiction of author Doris Pilkington Garimara, who powerfully pens the ongoing effects felt by generations of her family as part of the Stolen Generations.
