Chippendale New World Art Prize benefactor, Dr Stanley Quek, is calling upon emerging artists, creative agencies and students across Australia to enter the Chippendale New World Art Prize (CNWAP) – a major ten year arts initiative financed by a personal donation of $100,000, by the passionate arts philanthropist.
The winner will receive a $10,000, three month residency in the picturesque Andalucía region in southern Spain, hosted by Joya: arte + ecologiá. The finalists’ works will also be curated into an impressive exhibition opening on Thursday 8 May, spanning several locations in Chippendale including level 1 of Central at Central Park and NG Art Gallery.
Each year, the prize takes on a new theme that reflects the process of creating a new world – this year’s theme is ‘Utopia’ and will be judged by two time Archibald prize-winner Del Kathryn Barton as well as the Dean and Director of
COFA, Ross Harley.
The Prize encourages entry in all mediums of art including new technologies. This includes, but is not limited to painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, 3D modeling, animation, digital imaging, film, video, interactive media, motion graphics, photography, light and sound.
