Dale Harding: Body of Objects
Edited by Angela Goddard
Griffith University
A descendant of the Bidjara, Garingbal and Ghungalu peoples, Dale Harding employs diverse techniques and traditions to explore the socio-political histories and contemporary realities of his family and people. Developed by Griffith University and documenta 14, ‘Body of Objects’ presents a selection of images from Harding’s studio and exhibitions, shedding light on how his cross-disciplinary practice connects to personal and collective paradoxes of loss, identification and oppression. The richly illustrated publication includes an interview with curator Hendrik Folkerts and an essay by Angela Goddard. ‘While Harding draws on the specific context of his people and their histories‚’ writes Goddard, ‘his work has far wider resonances, through the fabric of time and space, to other bodies, objects and experiences.’
