Using popular media and digital imagery with traditional motifs of his Yuwi, Meriam, and South Sea Islander culture, Dylan Mooney narrates his personal experience as a proud queer Indigenous man in Still Thriving, part of Sydney WorldPride.
Featuring five large-format portraits, Mooney focuses on love in queer communities, as subjects stand proudly and defiantly, gazing out at the viewer or towards each other in tender, shared moments. Identity, desire, and representation are brought together to promote discussions of art created by overlooked and under-represented groups in the artworld.
