Elizabeth Gower: Cuttings

In her first major survey since the early 2000s, Elizabeth Gower presents work from the past two decades as well as a new 21-metre collage. The artist is known for her expert manipulation of traditional decorative motifs, elevating them to a fine art context. Her socially minded approach sees designs from quilt making, mosaic tiling, knitting and embroidery patterns shift, visually and conceptually. Materially they take on the advent of consumer waste with the artist cutting and collaging remnants of discarded ephemera.
