Hany Armanious: Stone Soup

Egyptian-born, Sydney-based sculptor Hany Armanious’ practice reflects upon the joys of beholding objects for the very first time, while unravelling any certainty of knowing the world through its things.

Stone Soup features over eighty works, with new and recent works shown alongside works across Armanious’ career – including the artist’s less familiar two-dimensional practice. Here, the fundamental decisions and processes of making and presenting sculpture are playfully laid bare – the artist’s relentless enquiry into form, also a negotiation with the innovations and legacies of art history.
