Emu Island: Modernism in Place

To celebrate 75 years of engaging with modern art, and living at the Emu Plains site, Penrith Regional Gallery & The Lewers Bequest presents a suite of exhibitions and public programs. Displaying works by Margo and Gerald Lewers, alongside their immediate contemporaries including Judy Cassab, Frank and Margel Hinder, Robert Klippel, John Olsen, Carl Plate and Tony Tuckson, the collection highlights shared themes and approaches to present-day living. Works by young contemporary artists grappling with the conceptual underpinnings of modernist ideals are also on show.
