The Percivals is an open portraiture competition and exhibition showcasing the outstanding and innovative work currently being produced by Australian artists. This year, The Percivals features eighty-six artworks, from photography to painting to screenprinting. Some sitters are known intimately to the artists, such as Seabastion Toast’s winning work, How the Light Gets In, 2023, of artist and friend Karlee Rawkins; some are self-portraits, such as Mark Dober’s Highly Commended Self portrait, 2024; and others may be recognisable public figures; while non-human subjects depict barn owls and beloved pet canines.
