Anna Carey is known for her photographs of miniature architectural models. In Madam Mystery, the artist explores notions of escapism, memory, and how we make sense of an unknown future. With a focus on fictional psychic shops, their neon signage, exotic names and use of fonts to communicate with viewers, each photograph contains a constructed miniature model that creates an imaginary space where reality meets fantasy. Carey questions the future of signage in the landscape as we continually rely more on our own devices to navigate to our destinations.
