Wilder Times: Arthur Boyd and the mid-1980s landscape

In 1984, Arthur Boyd created a series of Bangli/Shoalhaven River landscape paintings that captured the subtle shifts of colour and light at various times of the day, anchored by the river’s central waterline.

For this exhibition, Boyd’s fourteen large-scale paintings return to Bundanon for the first time since their creation. Wilder Times also brings together over sixty works by seminal Australian artists from the mid-1980s, providing a snapshot into Australia’s rapidly changing social, cultural, and political climate when ideas of landscape, land ownership, and environmental protection were actively interrogated.
