Freya Jobbins: Return

‘Return’ considers exactly that, but the idea is far more complex when the context is coming home from war, and the aftermath of the experience. Freya Jobbins’ exhibition considers this difficult and nuanced subject from a personal perspective, with her signature medium relaying a compelling visual metaphor. Her photographs and constructions employ plastic toys reformatted into masks, which are recognisably human, but their distortion leads to unease, an aspect that she says addresses ‘silent and secretive human truths in our intimate relationships.’
