Graham Lang: A Fulcrum of Infinities

For four decades, Zimbabwe-born Tasmanian-based artist Graham Lang has created biographical art in an attempt to bring to mind both the external and internal realities of place and being.

In his latest body of work, ‘A Fulcrum of Infinities’, Lang explores a diverse array of subjects, many derived from his literary interests. The title, taken from one of Lang’s novellas, implies that in every living thing exists an internal physical infinity. Drawing from this theme and that of the uncertain limbo between existence and extinction, Lang depicts animal surrogates evoking human narratives or suggesting the baffling complexity of opposites that form the self.
