Drawn to raw materials and often the banal or minor details of everyday existence, Vin Ryan’s, ‘Signs Of Struggle’, is a personal response to the urban environment that many of us live in, or encounter.
The exhibition considers the breadth of experience within a suburban setting with the artist observing his own neighbourhood, the western suburbs of Melbourne, its street signs, nature strip trees, car parks, footpaths and graffiti. Ryan also airs our ‘dirty laundry’ by examining domestic spaces, inviting us to witness the places that we call home within a residential setting with a new perspective.
