Helen Shelley explores the role art can play in the grieving process, and its ability to transform personal grief. Her practice seeks creativity as a means for refuge from these experiences using image collecting as a form of companionship. In ‘New Life Old Life New Life’, Shelley aims to capture a transcendent moment that occurred soon after her father’s death, and in doing so realises the occasions that surpass human consciousness as encountered through the everyday.
