Ivan Goodacre has been painting farm landscapes featuring grain crops for about 5 years. He regularly tours the Central West, and has recently ventured into the southern highlands around Mittagong, Bowral and Robertson to paint grazing country as observed from the road. The elongated format is intended to evoke a passing glimpse of a particular place when something catches the eye of the traveller.
The exhibition is comprised of intimate small works depicting particular gardens or roads around Bowral plus a range of tall, slim panels documenting the interrelationship between vegetation, reservoirs, fields and buildings in this highly manicured landscape. They are leanly painted, scrubbed panels giving a soft focus atmospheric feel.
