James Webb: Prayer

Presented as part of Mona Foma, Prayer is a multi-channel sound installation by South African artist James Webb. Audio recordings of prayer, song and vocal worship from religions and spiritual practices found in lutruwita/Tasmania are broadcast simultaneously from twelve floor-based speakers. Each transmits its own separate selection of recordings, arranged consecutively and looped; when all speakers play simultaneously, an ever-changing sound environment is experienced.

Prayer is an ongoing project; each iteration is created in situ, with voices gathered from the different spiritual practices operating in the host location.
