This survey exhibition of works by Kevin Robertson spans the artist’s near forty-year career as a painter. It includes early works depicting the figure in interior spaces alongside paintings, which illustrate Robertson’s interest in architecture with scenes of New York, as well as the suburbs of Perth, Western Australia.
Over four decades, Robertson’s painting practice has continued to evolve, utilising traditional aspects of the craft, exploring a spectrum of aesthetic possibilities and proposing new ways of visualising the world in all its mystery. Later works created using a variety of methods return a sense of movement, turning his focus to suburban and cityscapes, landscapes and cloudscapes, which became more complex and multidimensional in design and execution.
