In the ‘Z Garden’, Michael Zavros continues his poignant investigation of contemporary self-portraiture within the canon of art history and beyond, focusing on what this artform means in 2021 – a time when technology and social media have so effectively delivered means for instant self-portraiture to the masses.
Zavros presents himself in idealised non-human form through a reinterpretation of internationally revered monuments of architectural, historical and horticultural grandeur. Each work takes shape as, or features, a prominent letter ‘Z’ – for Zavros.
