The Mildura Palimpsest is a biennial visual arts event that provides opportunities for artists from all over the world to engage with regional Australia. 45 contemporary artists from Australia and overseas will create new commissioned work responding to the cultural and natural environment of the Mildura and Murray Darling region. International participants include Shamim Momin (former curator, Whitney Biennale), Tim Knowles (UK), Fabrice de Nola (Italy), and Rob Garrett (NZ).
As well as the exhibition, the ‘Palimpsest Symposium’ will explore ‘art as an agent of change and renewal’, focusing on developments where art provides a catalyst for renewal and change in marginal and remote communities, both locally and internationally.
