Murray Fredericks: Witness

Photomedia artist Murray Fredericks’ chosen locations depict an overwhelming emptiness and powerful emotional resonance of remote land and sky.

Witness presents a selection of large-scale images from Fredericks’ Salt, Icesheet and Hector series, which showcase the majestic and awe-inspiring environs of Lake Eyre, Greenland, and the Tiwi Islands. Fredericks selects places for their vast and boundless landscape, dismissing all literal forms in favour of a more essentialist view of nature; disrupting spatial parameters and visual perception to use space as a medium for meditation, depth, emotion, experience,
and meaning.
