MUMA showcases the first survey of the late Turkish Cypriot Australian artist Mutlu Çerkez (1964-2005), whose output included painterly self-portraits, cover designs based on bootleg LP sleeves (a tribute to Led Zeppelin), an installation featuring live bees, and the minimalist date works referenced in the exhibition’s title. Çerkez added a future date to all his works indicating when they would be remade – not necessarily in their original form, stating that his most interesting works would be ‘the missing ones – the ones dated after I die.’
