Painting Itself / 绘画本身

Five painters from Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, London, Shanghai, and Singapore take on the idea that painters look for the ‘face’ of their work: that aspect of a painting that looks back at them. In leaning into the character, mood, and inner constraints and struggles of their own painting, viewers are invited to reflect on how contemporary painting works to interlink and traverse geography and time – the Western art economy being repositioned through an Asian lens.

Artists: Jon Chan, Un Cheng, Chris Huen Sin-Kan, Noor Mahnun, and Tang Dixin.
