Los-Angeles based artist Petra Cortright will present a suite of five new digital paintings in her first Australian show that will travel to City Gallery, Wellington, New Zealand. Her post-internet works are executed in-program, borrow icons from the web like emojis and use the vector based tools of Photoshop such as palettes and brushes. The aesthetic is at once artificial with a nod to the delicacy of watercolour and hard-edge of abstract expressionism. Koenig suggests the digital paintings, “push the digital simile of traditional easel painting”.
