PORTAL: Capturing 24 hours of coastal living through your lens

‘PORTAL’ enters us into the many moments that make up our lives on the North West coast of Tasmania, through your lens.

Participants agree to take and share one photograph from their day in the North West coast of Tasmania on Saturday 3 January 2015 with the Gallery. Each photograph will be used in a public exhibition between 23 January and 1 February 2015, capturing 24 hours of life on the coast by the people in the community

“Photography is so accessible nowadays, with many of us using our smartphones to capture and share photos from our day to day activities with friends and networks online throughout the world. PORTAL celebrates this practice, but in a unique way that showcases the many experiences we have living in this small part of the world.” – Dianne Sheehan, Education & Public Programs Officer, Devonport Regional Gallery.

Registrations are now open and everyone in the community, no matter what their age, is eligible to participate.

Devonport Regional Gallery are offering smartphone photography workshops in December, prior to the Capture Day, to help you make the most from your smartphone camera. Led by local photographer Rachael Parker, #photosmarts workshops are open to anyone 12 years and over.

Registrations close: 24 December, 2014
Capture Day: 3 January, 2015
Submit: 3-11 January, 2015
Exhibition: 23 January and 1 February, 2015 (venue TBC)
