FORM’s PUBLIC Symposium returns in 2016 from April 1-17. The annual PUBLIC program is a celebration of urban art and ideas. PUBLIC 2016 presents Perth with a mix of events and ways to participate, as a Platform maker or creator, through outdoor murals, pop-up installations, temporary artworks, community gatherings, creative workshops and art exhibitions that spark new discoveries and ways to connect with friends and colleagues.
The diverse program includes murals by leading international and Australian artists across Curtin University, a transformation of the Wheatbelt silos, the launch of Perth’s newest creative hub and community space the Goods Shed, and Western Australia’s first ever prototyping festival PUBLIC Platform (at Claremont on April 2 and 3), which will challenge creative of all kinds to design innovative ways to enliven their neighbourhoods.
A highlight of this year’s program, Executive Director, Lynda Dorrington says is the PUBLIC Forum, a set of public conversations on April 2 and 8 about place and space with leading thinkers, doers and creators in those realms; including Deborah Cullinan, CEO of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in the USA, Takaharu Tezuka of Japan’s Tezuka Architects, and Mike Hornblow, Bruce Munro, Karim Jabbari and Alex Brewer.
