A limited edition of 100, this book presents photographs by Melbourne artist Matthew Ware together with screenshots of ‘strange and sad moments’ from other people’s Snapchats. Colour images coupled with sporadic text, including ‘Who can I talk to’ and ‘Wanna kiss myself I’m so pretty’, sketch a tragicomic portrait of contemporary Western society, canvassing issues like race, gender, mental health, vanity, loneliness, family and death. The book ‘sums up what it is to be alive these days; in which half the time you’re looking around and trying to take care of sh*t, and the other half you’re staring at your phone,’ reflects Max Olijynk in the afterword.
