Rising Stars showcases works, from ochre and bark paintings to Larrakitj (memorial poles), from the following art centres across Australia: Buku-Larrnggay Mulka, Iwantja Arts, Jilamara Arts and Crafts, Mimili Maku Arts, Munupi Arts, Warakurna Artists, and Warlukurlangu Artists.
While sometimes described as an exhibition of emerging artists, in fact, Rising Stars often showcases artists who have had long careers but who are gaining new recognition for their work or who are exploring new ways of expression, such as Dianne Ungukalpi Golding, whose figurative work tells the colonial history of the Ngaanyatjarra Lands through evoking colour and ancient stories of the Walu rockhole, previously exhibited at Outstation Gallery and acquired by the National Museum of Australia, Canberra.
Other artists exhibiting in Rising Stars 2024 include Tasha Nampijinpa Collins, Milminyina Dhamarrandji, Napunda Marawili, Betty Mula, Anita Pumani, Sallyanne Roberts, and Columbiere Tipungwuti.
