After the exciting re-opening of Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) early this year after eight months of redevelopment, SAM are hosting a blockbuster solo exhibition by Sam Jinks: Body in Time.
“This survey will fill the entire ground floor of SAM and showcase a selection of artworks that fit within an aesthetic of ‘real sculpture’: silicone-based objects that immaculately replicate human form and features.”
Body in Time brings together both Jinks’ older works as well as new pieces, showcasing the development of his artistic practice as one of Australia’s most successful young artists. Jinks’ hyper-real sculptures capture not only a hauntingly realistic reproduction of the human form, but an underlying sense of something much more than the physical – a deep understanding of unspoken emotions in human relationships.
Sam Jinks: Body in Time opens on May 3, 6pm and continues until July 1.
